Madan Sapkota
Madan Sapkota is a graduate school student in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at the University of Georgia (UGA). He is from Nepal and received his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Sciences from the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) in Nepal in 2019. He began his MS degree in Crop and Soil Sciences at the University of Georgia Tifton campus in the summer of 2021 under Dr. Simerjeet Virk.
His MS research is focused on evaluating the influence of different spray application parameters (e.g. nozzle types, spray volume, and ground speed) on coverage, canopy penetration and efficacy of pesticide applications in peanut. This project is funded by the National Peanut Board and the Georgia Peanut Commission
Recently Sapkota participated in the Precision Ag Systems graduate student poster competition at the ASA-CSSA-SSSA 2021 conference, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He presented a poster entitled, “Influence of ground speed on spray quality and coverage for a conventional boom sprayer without a rate controller” and received second place for this presentation, which in turn has motivated him to work harder in his research.
After completing his MS, Sapkota hopes to continue his education and experience further in Precision Ag. He is open to both a Ph. D. program as well as an industry position. Aside from his academics, Sapkota enjoys music, reading, and traveling.
